Theatre Education

I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to describe the passion I have for theatre education.
Or if I’ll ever really understand myself why I love it so much.
But there is something about high school theatre kids that I just adore.
The joy that comes on their faces as they talk with a friend about a show they both know and love.
The nervous excitment they have before going onstage and doing something they never thought they would be able to do.
The look in their eyes as they listen to you, and trust you, and believe in you as their teacher and director.
The bond they form as cast memebers and friends that reminds you excatly of the relationships you formed back then and still cherish now.
The giddy feelings they express as they become enthralled and fascinated with aspects of theatre they never knew existed before.
The excitement they have in talking about their favorite theatre memories.
The hard work and faith they put into a project you created just for them.
The smiles on their faces and hugs backstage after bows on opening night.
Theatre has this amazing power to bring people together in ways that never seemed possible.
It has a power to teach and communicate messages in ways nothing else can.
It has the ability to give the outcasts a place to fit in and feel loved.
This is why I do Theatre Education. (Among other reasons)
This is why I’m devoting my life to high school theatre.
This is what makes me feel complete.

Tracy I'm in love with you...

I'm not sure if I will ever understand why this movies makes me so happy.
Why it doesn't matter when or why I turn it on I become a giddy little girl.
Is it the fantastic choreography?
Is it the adorableness that is Zac Efron as Link Larkin?
Is it the hatred/jealousy I feel towards Nikki Blonsky?
Is it the annoyingness of stupid freaking Amanda Bynes?
Is it the hottness that is Elijah Kelly in "Run and Tell That"?
Is it the memories of laughter with Hailey as we went to the dollar theatre more than once a week, knowing every single line?
Is it the remembrance of dancing crazily around apartment six laughing harder than ever annoying everyone but us?
I suppose all of these reasons and more are why I love this movie and why it will always make me more happy than I can even express.

just a thought...

I look back on my life, and the greatest memories; the greatest moments in my life have always been in education. I have always been a learner. I’ve loved school since forever, and since then, I’ve known I wanted to be a teacher. My teachers were, and many still are, my idols; my role models in this life. They are the men and women who have made me who I am. They are the men and women who weren’t afraid to give me life changing experiences. They are the men and women who knew what I needed to learn and gave it to me. They are the men and women who loved me when I had no friends. They are the men and women who were always there for me; who gave me the self confidence I needed to be successful in my education, and in life. Because of those men and women, and the experiences they gave me, I want to be that woman to students one day.

Thankful.

10 Things to be Thankful for.

My Family. The most amazing people in the world.

Brayden. My BFF.

Lane. I honestly can't imagine how I would ever live without him.
He is the best friend anyone could ever ask for.
I am so very lucky.
And on top of it all he's the most talented man alive.

Karina and Hailey.
I'm not sure where to begin. They made Utah a place I didn't want to leave.
I love them more than they probably know and I will forever cherish our times together.
Best roommates ever.

Theatre Education.
I pretty much have the best major ever.
I mean look at these people.

Disneyland. Truly, the happiest place on Earth.
Disneyland Corn Dogs to be specific.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is what brings me true joy.
I would not be me without this church and all it teaches.

California. I mean honestly.
Why would you live anywhere else?

Chocolate.
Because, really, what is life without chocolate?

Happy Thanksgiving.
Find joy in the journey.

Multicultural Education

Amazing Grace by Jonathan Kozol.

Devastating. Inspirational. Breathtaking.
If you are going to be an educator this book needs to be read.
Even if you aren't going to be an educator, this book is an eye opener to what needs to be done in this country for the rising generation of minority and impoverished children.

(this is a collage I made for my class presentation. The quote says:
"Nobody's s'posed to live like this in the United States. Did you ever read about this in the books you used in school? I never heard about this in no textbook.")
